After having sold my last D2 6yrs ago I’ve returned to the fold , 2001 GS Auto, 65,000 miles, one owner, never been out in the rain, annually wax oiled with 31 service/ maintainence invoices from the same L/Rover garage totalling £12,002.57p going back 21yrs to prove it.
I cannot believe it, located it by a shear stroke of luck.
It had done 24 miles between the last 3 MOT’s and sat with the tank all but empty, so after a 90 mile run home the in tank fuel pump ( the original one from new)has Given up, oh well i can live with that😁
Now….
This is a pre facelift and doesn’t have a diff lock lever, can one be fitted?
Any advice welcome👍

Probably.
If you manage to look underneath you should be able to locate the lever to which a mech needs to be attached.
Mine is identical to yours except one year older, many many more miles on the clock and quite a few more owners.

So I am very jealous. (And quietly wondering what you paid for it!!)

This thread, although talking about a 2004 model, will help as it contains what to look for gearbox number etc.

Thankyou Stanley, much appreciated, I did pay more than I wanted to but this car was just too good to walk away from, I paid well south of £10,000 from a dealer but via a mate who is in the trade so effectively a trade deal .

Well, everything crossed 🤞tomorrow’s the big day, in tank fuel pump being replaced, this’ll set the tone of how I’m going to get on with this one, pretty sure from speaking to people it’s the pump, wish me luck 🙏
