Hi,

I purchased the STC8427AA auxillary power socket kit for my series 1 Discovery.

I have connected all the wires as per instructions to the supplied relay but although I get power up to the relay, I get nothing out of it. Any ideas why the relay would be needed. The power comes from an ignition live with a 2amp fuse, could I bypass the relay and just plug the plus and neg to the socket.

Secondly the socket supplied with the kit is too small for a standard cigar lighter applicaton, why is that ? I haven't fitted the socket yet as I think I may get a standard cigar socket.

The joys of Land rover accessories eh !!!

you have what is known as a hella socket, these are usually fitted to HGV's but you can buy the plugs from any motorists shop, just ask for a plug for a hella socket, they are more reliable than a cigarette lighter type plug/socket ;)

could be a faulty relay, is there power into the relay?, it may not work until you plug something into the socket, try connecting an appliance(ie a bulb or similar) to the wires on the back of the socket ;)

Just ordered two 'Hella' plugs inc delivery £6.50 can't be bad.

I'll plug something in as you suggest before I slate the relay any more.

I have tested the relay. There are four connections -

12V in = Tested and correct
Earth = -- " " ----
Pre-wired plug from loom - 4v reading at the plug 4v reading at the relay
12v out = o reading

As you say may need something plugging in to get it working.

Thanks again
