most auto g/boxes wil go on fer years, i have one that is 16years old and still going strong. if they are properly looked after with oil and filter changes they give little trouble, off course the same can't be sed for the electronics wot control them.

Losing power going uphill on long mway drag. Went from doing 85 to 50 with HDC light coming on. pulled into h/shoulder, turned engine off then on to find warning light gone off. Set off but very little power. On flat & down hill no issues. round town ok but slips going from 3 to 4, then again 4 to 5....with massive revs then loss of power. Garage where purchased vehicle have said that due to 105K mileage gbox could go at anytime, dealer took it for a run and said it is shot and recommend go to Trading Standards.....dealer wouldnt offer warranty due to mileage but has offered to get recon in for £980 (he is not charging for fitting and offsetting VAT through his business also offering me use of runabout whilst it gets sorted.....do I just bit the bullet and let him get on with it or take the long term option of Consumer rights route??

Do you fook....Vehicle should be fit for purpose which it obviously aint (this is where the hecklers come in) ... Name & shame dealer and if you need it I will happily advise on the various routes you can take.

WELL. . . . .Truth is any auto box can go at any time after 60,000 miles [same as er manwell] or they just keep going ,un like slobmister sis , if yo change oil on regular basis, could jist keep going, your symptoms are a typical torque converter slip[this is the last output from the gearbox to the final drive] however to fix it its gearbox out time, and for the time verses /effort , you might as well fit a re- con box . . . . .now getting back to the dealer bit, the gearbox in question was shot before you bought it [or partly shot] so the said dealer should bite the bullit and sort it free of charge. . . . . .ps if he agrees wiff this make sure that the said re-con is a[ ASHWORTHS RE-CON ] then you will have total piece of mind that this will be a good auto box. . . .best oh luck earthling
