just in the process of fitting a replacment auto box and could do with some advise on the best way to line up the TC bolt holes with the holes in the fly wheel.

The box is currently bolted to the engine so any ideas without unbolting it would be good.

cheers

just turn it with a screw driver or something similar if fitted correctly tc can be spun easily ,start them all before you tighten any ,presumably you fitted t/c to box first and ensured it sat deeper into bell housing than drive plate stuck out from rear of engine

Fit the viscous coupling first, but make sure it sits in the tabs!! You should feel it clonk when in correct.

Then use tie straps to keep it in place while fitting box.

There is a inspection cover at the bottom to bolt it to engine and to cut the straps when box is fitted.

If the viscous coupling isn't fitted properly it will break the plastic tabs in the box and you may aswell bin the box and start again

There is a plate!! It's either on engine or gearbox at bottom.

Can't remember which as its been a while

once you know how and have done it before may be.

just for anyone in the future.

make sure Tc is corrcetly seated & be gentle with it as its easy to damage the pump it mates with.

hold TC in place with a strap while fitting the graer box to the engine.

make some 100mm long M10 studs & put in lower 4 mounting hole on engine

install gearbox, remove strap when you have about 10mm more to tighten up box.

working through the starter motor hole, locate a bolt hole in the fly wheel and insert a
screwdriver in the hole.

with the aid of the screwdriver in the hole and your other hand through the starter motor hole rotate the TC until you line up the threaded hole in the TC with your screwdriver.

you will need a 13mm socket for the TC bolts, i found it easier to use a 1/4" drive for the 1st part as it fitted in the hole easier than a 1/2" socket which was a tight fit.

be carful not to drop the bolt between the flywheel and the engine, a magnetic socket would be useful.

fit the 1st bolt, not forgetting to use loctite, do not tighten fully.
fit remaining 3 bolts in the same way.
now tighten all 4 bolts fully.

job done.

if anyone has any other tips please add to this thread.

Cheers
