Was gonna have a drive upmost if mom not gonna get any hassle off the police !
If someone could get back to me asap (like now I mean before I set off) Lol
Thanks a lot
Or if there is anyone local that's going out tonight and don't mind someone tagging along !
Got a disco on Monday and never been off road before except for my local golf course ! I'm itching to get out tonight !
Not even had my defender off road yet,Mobutu it's dead at the moment anyway and I've jumped into a disco

I'm not familiar with your area, but you may find some useful information in the green Laning section, such as legality and general code of conduct regarding 'green lanes' and if you want to make a regular thing of it, perhaps get an OS map and join your local club who will have extensive local knowledge and up-to-date legal info.

Its private I believe. The ice cream van that goes up there in summer has to pay for the privilege.

Rivington Lane itself is a B class road and is tarmaced and has white lines down the middle. So that's pretty obviously a public road. What we're probably referring to is the tracks on the hill itself. On my OS 1:25000 I can't see any marked as BOATs. There is a small track leading south eastwards from the car park at SD 63800 14832 with the green dots on it indicating an ORPA, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has vehicular rights, of course.

The Google Street View car has travelled on part of the track marked as George's Lane/Belmont Road, however. In this day and age the Google car probably has more legal force than the OS map!

Acc. to Trailwise and my maps, Belmont lane is OK, the track leading up to the memorial isn't.

Don't forget that just because some people get access, it doesn't mean everyone has a right.

And another note .. if you want help getting a route or lane legality checked, please try to get place names correct, and rather than use a lanes name, or what it's called locally, use map co-ordinates so those who don't know the area but can read a map (which don't usually have lane names on them) have a chance to help you.

I took the chance and had a drive up there, nice bit track full of rocks and bolders, when I got to the top, there was 4 other discos and a jimny up there, they said the way I came up was cool as long as I didn't go anywhere off the track like the obvious signs of someone doing this and making a mess (even tho it looked a bit of a challenge and a good route)
Nice view up there, need to find somewhere else local to me now I've been up there.. I've been upto hartshead pike in Ashton under lyne too
