I've tried to find out but haven't been able to as yet...

Yeah I would try & remove that kink with a bit of hairdryer heat or chop it out & re-join it, as a D2 with sunroofs don't need any help to ruin the headlining:)
Hardly going to stop the dribble flow of the sunroof bypass and a joint would certainty restrict flow more.
 
Of course it will restrict it slightly if you use an internal joiner but I was thinking using a piece of hose with the I.D big enough to take the O.D of the existing tube & glue together.;) Then route the drain correctly where it won't get squished.:)
 
Thanks everyone, I've removed and cleaned it now I know what it is. I'm not terribly bothered about the kink in the pipe above as it's only a slight one - when I re-assemble the light 'cluster' I'll check if it rests on it and adjust accordingly.:)
