was thinking maybe get another female obd2 socket and would cut mine off and stick another on? it would have to have all wires attached and in good nick so i could join all the wires back together though!

Just Google OBDII sockets or go on EBAY, I got plugs and sockets from Hong Kong for 99p each plus £5 postage.

ive given you the details to solder in the wire that you already have, if you solder it in and it works then you will need to get a new obd socket. but for now just follow the instuctions and solder the 9pin serial connector wire into the wires at the back of the obd socket

you are in a better position than i was as you have the colours of the wires in the correct pin holes, just leave a bit of cable on the obd plug and follow the wires through!
