300tdi I have had the head off to replace the gasket however it has not solved the vesuvius header tank issue, I may have it skimmed, but when it was off it had a small fissure between the valves but the performance is ok, does the water galleries run close to this area and can it pressurise because of this crack

always skim head, new HG and new head bolts

If you have had the head off and seen something like a crack then I think you have found your issue. 300Tdi heads are more prone to cracking than earlier 200Tdi heads so this is not uncommon.

Get it off again, get it pressure tested or just get another head. There are usually heads for sale on ebay or on forums.

Also, use a good quality head gasket.

Cheers all head hunting now in progress, I used new bolts are they good for another use I hear up to three times ??

Will a 200 head fit a 300 does it need the 200 rocker gear,(update> after a bit more research it seems like its not a option hey ho something to do with the injectors are at a differant angle to the combustion pot
