Im guessing its alternator failure. Driving home rev counter and speedo died. Lights dimmed just got home turned off went to turn it over and nothing dead as a dodo. :-( worst timing as usual when I have no work atm. Landys always seem to know when ur struggling then decide to go wrong lol.

When you say dead as a dodo, do you mean no ignition lights at all or the battery didn't have enough power to turn the starter motor?

Sounds like what happened to me and my mate, we drove 120miles to the billing land rover show this year in his TD5 defender 90, did the mud run  battery light came on, we soon left, pressure washed inside and out down the road at a garage who kindly push started it for us, then drove 120 miles back wishing for the best, on the last 2 miles things started to randomly die, indicators, rev counter, fuel gauge, luckily it was light out! then after 5 mins parked on my driveway it did die :( AA recovered it back to his house at 2:00am! one new alternator and a good clean out of the starter motor later, lesson learnt!
