Guys,

The Apline CD changer in my '99 P38 has packed up. Dust cover has always been missing and just too much grime got into it. Managed to pick up a good condition Clarion 6-disc P38 unit thinking it would fit straight in. Of course the Alpine has an integral lead with a square plug, and the Clarion has a round socket.

Anyone know if you can get a lead, or do a bit of re-wiring to drive the Clarion unit directly without mucking about with the head unit? Searched web and forum, but can't seem to find anything...

Thanks
Jock

Why not send it to Clarion for a full overhaul and repair for £75?
Fantastic service..back with you in a couple of days.

BigJock2005,

Clarion head unit will not drive an Alpine CD changer unit as signalling is proprietory.

Sorry...I am always wrong..never right.
Thought it was the standard Divesity.
Take no notice of what I say!!!!!!!

Thanks alot Irish, just logged on to Clarion Service and requested a quote for repair and refurbish. Hopefully get a reply within 48hrs. These things seem to be quite rare, so if I can get a manufacturers repair+refurbish then that'll do me!

They do a listing on Egay on a buy it now for around £70 including return post. I posted mine to them whilst I was over the UK recently. Posted it Monday afternoon, got it back Wed. afternoon. New LCD display, serviced the casette player..whatever needs doing is done for the fixed price, good as new. Fantastic service!!
