Can anyone tell me where the alarm/imobilizer is on a 1992 v8 please?

I am not a car thief, honest!

It's my mates disco, its stuck in my workshop and I need the room to get mine welded.

Cheers

Trace the wiring back from the ignition switch? It'll be dead easy on a 200 shape.

Mine hasn't got any security btw so I can't help specifically :(

Found the immobiliser box but the bypass connector my pall got from eBay appears to be for the later discovery. Can anyone tell me how to bypass this immobiliser? I have had a search but the only posts I can find for this age disco are for the 200tdi which is just a mater of running a new feed to the solenoid but the V8 has a lot more things disabled.

I'm not a car thief either, honest, I'm just REALLY nosey, so if you could all p.m. me with you address and where you hide your spare keys I would be most grateful. ;););););)

Hell what spare key? the key is always in the ignition never take it out and the spare is in the cubby box

Why don't you get your mate to move his motor.

I am trying to help my pall get his disco going as that’s just what we do for other disco owners and if I can move it to one side it lets me get my disco to the back of the workshop where I can stick it on axle stands, drop the fuel tank and start welding the chassis. If I have it at the front of the workshop I have to keep putting the wheels back on so it can be moved. I said it’s my workshop but we share it really so I can’t just tell him to shift it or push it outside.

its not too difficult but would need volt meter or test lamp and preferably continuity tester

I am not bad with car electrics but without a wiring diagram (I can’t find one) or any clue what might be connected at the other end of the wire and all black cables it gets a bit tricky. Can you give me a bit more info?

does it crank

It cranks but no power to the fuel pump and I think the main relay and the one to the injectors are dead.

With the battery connected the alarm sounds (horn beeping) continuously, central locking and electric windows don’t work either.

The car had a max power alarm fitted which my pall had someone disconnect as it was playing up and I think he triggered the original immobiliser when he removed it.

He didn’t get any key fobs with the car but it was running fine when he bought it.

usually when you disconnect battery you turn ignition on/off then remove earth lead within 15seconds ,try that with battery lead might stop sounder ,immobiliser cuts earths too certain relays you can check those.,but near clutch pedal is ecu loom plug it will have a large brown wire this is battery live check ,thick white wire ignition feed may need fresh one ,with live feeds to plug efi will run white and purple is feed going to pump from relay next to ecu ,ecu and loom are self contained and if have live and ignition live to the 2 relays tin covered next to ecu and feed from there to pump white /purple wire ,the first relay energises system with thick brown wire and also switches fuel pump relay,white/purple relay, also check coil feed

Thanks Very much James, thsnks to your info its starting fine now.

Mine is up on stands now with the tank out so I can weld it.

Cheers
