Ive been offered an aircon pump but it wasnt tested before removal and is sold as is, can these units be overhauled if it turns out to be knackered?

Make sure it turns over. Drain oil from it and look for flecks of metal. If all is ok refill with correct amount and grade of fresh oil. The oil in the system and the oil in the pump are seperate. You need oil in pump before it is fitted.

You can get a recon from 'Autocool' or search Ebay for recon'd aircon pumps. Landrover ones are not all that expensive. Shop around.
