Hello all.
im after a bit of advice please. have just got a 90.with a 300 tdi from a range rover in it,
q 1 why do the wings have no air intake on the sides only the top ?
q 2 is the water pump on these the same as a lr 300 tdi replacement wise.

1) cos it was probably a v8 before the transplant
2) a 300tdi engine is a 300tdi engine

what's the air filter setup it has fitted at the moment? got any pics?

it look to be honest like the way a v8 has it filter left hand side as you look at the engine

depending on what pipework you have actually in the engine bay you may be able to just cut a hole and then fit a standard snorkel to the wing.

your piccy isn't on photobucket anymore:doh:

click the box on the photobucket pic/pics you want to use.
Then click generate htmls
copy contents of the second box up from the bottom and paste it in your post

on the grounds that you have the correct filter I would say that the intake pipe on it is also correct. If you got your hands on the square intake section that would usually go behind the grill on the inside of the wing, you could easily fit a 300tdi snorkel.

This is the same type of snorkel that I've got.

DEFENDER RAISED AIR INTAKE / SNORKEL TD5 / 300TDI on eBay (end time 05-Oct-09 11:50:54 BST)

as long as you get the 300tdi air duct in place behind the snorkel it should be ok and will just mean the plate on the outside of the snorkel will fit slightly proud of the rest of the bodywork as you won't have the recess.

Nice for all 300tdi engines then.

Cos a 200tdi engine ain't always a 200tdi engine when it comes to water pumps.

If you know what I'm sayin.
