2001 Disco 2 td5 Right hand drive.
Going to tackle this tomorrow and have bought a 5L bottle of Dot 4 from halfords.
This is what I am going to attempt and will take pictures to post up here as a guide.
Due to the height of the disco there is no need to jack up the wheels. Suck out old brake fluid from resovoir to minimum level. Then top up to max level with new brake fluid.
Attach clear drain hose to front left bleed nipple and put into jar with the hose submerged with new fluid.
Get friend to pump the brakes up until they will pump no more and hold the pressure. Unscrew brake nipple and wait till new fluid can be seen flowing out of bleed nipple.
repeat in this order *have seen so many variations of this. Mine is a 2001 td5 right hand drive and according to the rave manual this is the procedure for bleeding the system.
1. Front left passenger wheel
2. Front right drivers wheel
3. Rear left passenger wheel
4. rear right passenger wheel.
After i have bled the four wheels i will attach the clear hose to the clutch slave cylinder under the bonnet and again put it into a jar submerged in new fluid.
Get buddy to fully depress the clutch and release with bleed screw loosened. Repeat a few times until clear fluid flows out of hose into jar.
Get buddy to fully depress clutch and hold, then tighten the bleed screw.
Is this the correct method to change the brake and clutch system fluids???
Any pointers will be greatly accepted.
