Thanks for your help. Its been hooked up to diagnostic today and no fault code on Wheel sensors but did show up throttle position sensor?? and G force sensor - this is the one next to the handbrake lever. Any thoughts on this - tbh idid not know of its existance until today.Search for "abs sensor ebay" on ere and you'll find the sensors peeps have used. There's at least 1 seller on ebay who sells a cheaper version than LR, which works. User ID is on ere somewhere. I would buy them if mine were broke'd.
Dont have - a local mobile mechanic used his diagnostic on it as a quick favor. It showed Throttle position sensor and g force faults. he did remark that the TPS may refer to a wheel sensor fault? but all 4 wheel snsors were fine when he took it for a spin around the block. His suggestion was that he take a better look when he had more time. My thought is that for sixty odd quid I may take a chance and replace G force sensor - any thoughts? What were the codes?
THanks for the tip and will do. Are you aware of any calibration needed to the G sensor?think the throttle position sensor can be recalibrated by turning ignition on (not starting though) and pressing the throttle pedal five times.
I have read this somewhere, not sure where and never had to use the knowledge, but it was tucked away in my brain somewhere
Thanks Hippo. No mention of the G sensor - is this for earlier than 2001 model? have ordered the g sensor from LR and am taking a chance on £68. Will post how i get on. LR want £140 inc vat to diagnose on their computers - seems expensive but chap I spoke to said it is much more sophisticated than Snap On and will guarantee answer. Is this last bit entirely true do we know?
Main dealer test book also called T4 will do everything, with the person using it trained to know what to do. Other T4 users may have bought the software for the garage without the training, so they may not be fully able to understand the best starting point as a lot of data can confuse. We’ve had peeps on ere before who have said this when going to independents with injection problems. Things like the abs computer don’t get picked up on cheap odbii scanners. I think you get to the abs via the main computer. All the separate computers in LR’s have their own fault list. My hawkeye can get to them all. Other kit can too but it tends to be the more expensive stuff. Thanks Hippo. Thanks for your knowledge on this. Fingers x'ed that the new G fixes the problem - although realise im sort of guesing. If no joy it is reasuring to know that LR can give a definate diagnosis with T4. I would expect a g-sensor on all abs cars. They use it as a secondary measurement for when yer sliding sideways or slipping out of control and the wheel sensors are giving duff readings as the wheels int turning proportional to yer speed.
Well, dont want to count my chickens too early but fitted new G sensor this morning and have been driving about locally today and no ABS/TC warning lights - could it be fixed, i dont dare to hope!!Thanks for your knowledge on this. Hope so. Will feel more assured if warning lights behave over coming days, then its off to the MOT!!Hopefully it's sorted. I can't see it being the throttle position sensor if the MIL isn't lit!!
