Guys my ABS light doesn't go out until the car has moved forward for 3 seconds, it's always the same amount of time and does always go out.
Is this normal or could it be caused by system needing bleeding so pump doesn't build enough pressure until its moving? Or am I just paranoid and talking rubbish? Or could it be that's just how it is with these old motors (1999 4.0SE auto).
Cheers guys

Normal, it has to be moving for the ECU to check the sensors are working, it goes out at 5mph or thereabouts. Try reading the owners manual, save you a lot of stress if you know what to expect.

It's normal, speed related 5mph if I remember correctly, my 2000 4.6 is the same and it's mentioned in the handbook, I sure yours will be the same.

Phew.... Cheers, thanks for that. Unfortunately I never got a handbook, some scrote smashed a window and stole the leather folder with all the books etc....

Download RAVE from the "How To" section, it is the ful workshop manual and it also has the owners handbook.:)

Yep, completely normal (if TC and handbrake stay on with it that's less normal).
Important to know as there have been cases of MOT centres failing P38s because they thought ABS wasn't working

I recently had that argument with my French MOT centre:)

had an argument with a guy at national tyres about this. he tried to tell me my car need the brakes checking an diagnostics. Apparently he used to work for LR. I told him that if he did he should know that this was perfectly normal and there was nothing wrong with my car!
