Well another week and another set of bills.

I got into the car yesterday and noticed that the ABS warning light stayed on. when i turned the car off and turned it back on again it showed ABS Fault on my center console.... ive also noticed the the alarm fault is now displayed for a short time as well.
I know both of these systems are controled by the Bocm but im keeping my fingers crossed that there is 2 seperate faults and its not the conrole module!

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause of the each fault?

thanks
Drew

hmmm, what's the condition of the battery like?? A dying battery with low voltage could in theory cause these problems, much like the 'gearbox fault' that you can get with a dying battery.

Assuming there are 2 separate faults, the alarm one would most likely be the ultrasonic detector thingymajig on the passenger side. These are easily replaced, pull the old one off and unplug and then replace with the new one. Are you getting Alarm Fault all the time when locking or unlocking then?? The ABS fault could be multiple things but commonly it can be the air gap on the speed sensors, they can lift out of position - see abs - I wouldnt leave it too long though, get it hooked up to a computer if the air gap thing doesn't turn out to be the problem.

Absolute worse case scenario would be a BeCM on its way out but I highly doubt that.

If it was me I would first suspect the battery and get it checked or try another one followed by investigating each fault before worrying about the BeCM.

Thanks Wills,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back but ive been away for a couple of days.
Im going to get it onto a machine later this week to see what the problem is with the ABS, but i think i will take your advice on the battery first. I took the kids bowling on sunday and my Dad drove my RR down there and i followed in our other car. there was no problem when he started it at his house ( I left it there the night before after having too much pop) and it was parked in the car park at the bowling ally for about an hour no more. When we came out the battery was dead, not just a little mind, not a drop of charge left in it, no lights on the dash or anything.

So with a little boost off the jump leads it was fine again. It took him around 10 mins to drive it back to mine and then he turned it off without thinking. i turned the key again and she fired up. Really strange its been fine all week now? apart from the warning messages that is.

I wont go into the fact that i have discovered anyfreeze on my drivers side foot well carpet. what more can go wrong!

I would def replace the battery then and make sure the connections to it are tight and secure. I think this might turn out to be the root cause of the issues you are having. If not then you will need to go from there but it def sounds like a fudged battery.

Anti-freeze in the foot well will be the heater O-rings. Dont leave it to get worse, if you do then the anti-freeze can make its way into places it shouldn't and cause havoc with the electronics. Also keep an eye on coolant level while you have leaky o-rings, you dont want to loose it all and overheat!

no worries, going to pick a battery up in the morning. As for the O rings, are they quite easy to do?
