This begs the question...

I'm moving to the US in a few years and want to take my trusty 1985 110 with me, however it's currently sitting on a galv chassis and has had it's 4 speed and V8 removed for a 5 speed and 200tdi.

Does anyone here have any experience with importing over there... will I fall foul of the regulations as it's not original?

the biggest issue on the video was the fact that the importer had changed the plates on a newer car to try and cheat the system, hence why it was crushed. its a shame but it is a good thing ultimately.

has it got the original chassis number stamped on it?

Instead of asking on here where not many know about other than hear say.
Do a search about importing a defender into the USA as there is a link that will tell you everything you need to do. Read it carefully and if you don;t understand then call the customs authorities
