Returned home from my normal Saturday jaunt down the coast to find my neighbor waiting on my doorstep. He'd managed to bury his car up to the front axles, on his front lawn after delivering a trailer load of logs. One quick tow later (the Defender didn't feel a thing) and I've been searching the forums ever since... but I cannot find the form I fill in to get my official "Recovery Vehicle" certificate, lapel pin and patch to sew on my swimmers

Had DHL delivery van do that on my back garden grass ( there's no way its a lawn) but she wouldn't let me tow her out and called their recovery service!!

I can almost feel you disappointment but she probably did the right thing. These days I would only ever get involved in recovery if it were a life-or-death situation, too much risk of litigation if things go pear-shaped. Modern vehicles designed purely for the tarmac no not take kindly to recovery, as their towing-eyes & underbody layouts are not designed to withstand the stress's imposed by it. That's why there are specialists, who also carry the appropriate insurance.
