hi all, got a 98 (S reg) 2.0 XEDI frelander 1 S-wagon
yesterday i turned out a junction and then lost all power, the engine wouldnt rev above 2000 rpm , when it got there she would start to shudder and grey smoke would appear, its not the head gasket or turbo that has gone, checked the pump on the tank and all seems to be fine, however now it struggles to start and get above 1500rpm .
Can you help?

usually we say hello first in the introduce section


maf or leak in turbo hoses at a guess

yeh sorry kinda in a hurry trying to figure out whats wrong.
checked turbo hoses and maf dont know whats wrong, when we get her running shes hunting too.

It doesn't sound exactly like the symptoms mine showed when the MAP sensor packed in .

Does the engine light come on ?

Had a look at your thread but there is no engine management light present.

That might also rule out crank position sensor CPS .

Yeh, going to check all the sensors tonight, if its none of them then it must be either the injection pump or ECU, but then if it were the ECU you would think the engine management light would be on?

found the problem, turns out there was some gunky s**t in the fuel pump!
runs on the button now!

i got it on friday night, had it on the road less than 2 hours on saturday and then the problem struck

As people say over here ,when someone gets a new motor . Well wear .

If you dont already have a haynes manual , get one asap . It will save you loads of money .

Yup haynes manual was bought a few days ago, waiting on delivery but no post been due to hellish fog! Waiting on an EGR blanking kit too
