Hi all,
I'm playing with adding vegetable oil to my Landy and I'm in the process of setting up a 2 tank system. However, due to having a lucas pump I'm trying to locate a spare incase the inevitable happens. But what a nightmare!
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a spare??? other than a reconditioned mega expensive one?

Thanks,

Jon

I would use the simplest method. I thought that using the twin tank would put less stress on the fuel pump at start up, especially seeing its the notorious Lucas demon!!

i put well over 10k miles on my 110 when it still had a TD in it before i swoped it out for a 200 and other than changing the fuel filter every so often i didnt have an issue - in fact i havent found anyone who has HAD a problem with the lucas pump due to the use of SVO, there is however lots to read saying that you WILL or MIGHT have problems.

i've built a few twin tank systems into assorted vehicles for people and i am now of the opinion that the cost/benefit just isnt there, especially as the price of SVO has risen so high

pour the SVO into your (single) tank, enjoy the smell, dont be put off if it takes a couple more seconds to fire in the mornings and add a litre or 2 of petrol per tank when it's really cold and bobs yer uncle

I would be interested ciderdrinker if you have one. How much do you want for it etc etc.
Sean, What sort of percentage did you put in your tank? 100%? I'm using about 40% at present, and everything is fine, but after reading post after post about the lucas pump I'm awaiting a big bang in the morning when the thing dies!!

i was never very precise about the quantity of oil/diesel however for the most part if would have been near to 100% certainly during the warmer months

have you ever found a post from anyone who actually HAS had a failure ?

You're right Sirus, that does sound better, but hey, what sort of history does it have? knackered and so replaced or.... Also, how do I go about the transaction. Let me know what the postage is and I'll send a cheque?

You can paypal me if you want:D

Bloody hell for the sake of £20 you could strip it down and rebuild it yourself for next to nowt!

I've done about 5000 miles on up to about 80% svo in my 110 with a 2.5td. No problems whatsoever. Bit lumpy on tickover first thing in the morning that's all. Never heard of anyone having a problem with their pump. I reckon it all stems from those folks trying to sell expensive conversions.
