Hiyall...

have a 4 bolt power steering box leaking from the top plate....

have had plate off and the seal inside seems fine... the 4 bolts were not loose, can't imagine why its leaking... i take it liquid gasket is not the way to go?

anyway... having read some other posts the word is that the seal kits arent worth bothering with... and a recon box is the way to go, however this raises in interesting question:

where do the folks who recon the boxes get THEIR seals from?!

wasnt a big leak in the first place but ive really fooked it now as have broken the plastic seal on the locking washer so will probably leak like a bastid now!

also... cos i really dont know much about these things... what does the shaft with the 6mm hex that you undo to get the cover plate off actually do?!

thanx y'all! :)

fit a new sealing ring and lightly silicone top cover , screw adjusts sector shaft to input shaft ,you need to ensure screw is screwed a good way out when you tighten the 4 cover bolts ,then center box ,count input lock to lock and place shaft in middle ,rock input whilst adjusting screw in till free play between the 2 shafts can be felt to have gone ,hold screw and fit nut

... thanks james, seal looked perfect to me, but guess i'll give it a go.... need a new lock washer anyway so time to go shopping for seals... best go for "genuine" i suppose!
