Having som problems with my disco. its a 1996 300tdi manual. Its had a engine change this year. Its running a bosch ve pump.
Problem its having is that from tick over to 1450rpm's its running asthose its missing, take it to 1500rpm and it runs smooth, however it will pick its rpm's up to 2000rpm all by itself. Also when running rough it chucks out loads of blue smoke.
Around 5 months ago it had a full top end engine rebuild.
list of things done:
valve guides cleaned out
valve seats recut
new valve stem seals fitted
new head gasket
rockers adjusted to factory 0.20mm
new cambelt kit.
bores were also glaze busted
Since then the car has covered 2000 miles. The problems started the middle of last month. It has had the fuel pump tweaked, alittle to much as it does smoke black under heavy load. Its also started to knock aswell. I think the fuel pump is causing some trouble, but do you guys think there could be anything else causing the problems. Car doesn't seem to feel down on power.
