Sold the P38 earlier this year and now going to replace it with another Disco.

The question is will it be a TD5 engine or should I avoid that and go for a 300tdi engine.

I am aware and had experience of 300 engine but what are the known problems with the TD5. Is it ok with 100,000miles on it or should I avoid it?

Any help on pro's & cons would be appreciated

The TD5 engine is an excellent engine. Head gaskets have been known to go, but not that common. Other than that, no reliability concerns at all. The bits that stick on to it can be another matter though. Starter motors, EGRs MAFF, etc. Then there's the air suspension and ACE that can cause you problems with that age of motor if you have a model with those fitted.

All these are fairly easily fixed though. It's just there's a module within these vehicles somewhere which times failures so as to rob your kids of any inheritance.
