as title really, i fitted a new timing belt on my 300 tdi, put new tensioners, guides etc. i,m sure i got the timing right but the diesel knock is louder?. runs absolutely fine, starts as soon as you turn the key and returning good mpg. what do you all reckon? cheers in advance

sounds like pump timing needs a tweak! i am pretty sure that yours sounds too far advanced and needs retarding until the clatter disappears when you put your foot down.

What he said ^^^ Did you loosen off the IP pulley bolts when before you tensioned the belt and then tighten them up afterwards?

if you mean the bolts on the fuel pump, yes i loosened them and when i tentioned the belt i re tightened them. if the fuel pump needs tweaking, hows that done?. cheers for replies much appreciated
