hi all my mate's disco (300 tdi auto) has lost forward drive. reverse is fine but when in drive there is just a whirring sound from gear box, can anyone help or is the auto box knackered???

have yu tried it in difflock.

tried it in low and high range if thats what you mean??

check the colour of oil by draining some out

how do you mean dif lock, checked oil and trans fluid both are fine

My Autobox is now only able to select reverse. Why?
Your A clutch (forward drive) has failed and you will require a replacment autobox.

possibly ,colour of oil when some drained out will show that,its not a difficult job to change clutch A
