I currently have the head off my disco 300tdi. I beleive the previous owner used a paddocks £10 head gasket:doh:... enough said....

While the head is off, are there any suggested modifications that could be made to aid oil flow or increase reliability?

I have ported and polished heads before, but not on a diesel, just wondered whether the 300tdi would get any benefit from this sort of work.
 
I cant possably see how it wouldn't help, just so long as the fueling was suited to match. Whether any slight increase in power / weight ratio would be noticed is a different matter.
