Hello People, Just a couple of questions for you. On Ebay someone is selling a 300Tdi lump, saying that it came out of an auto disco. This engine having a different cam and fuel pump giving 121bhp as standard. Is this true as I have not heard of it before?

Also as secondhand crew cab roofs are like rocking horse poop to find and new ones requiring a second mortgage, can a 90 and truck cab roof be tigged together?

The fuel pump from the auto disco may be different as some had EDC and you'll need an ecu for this, or change to the normal mechanical one from any other 300. As far as i'm aware, the cams are the same for all 300's

You can tig two roofs together if you want, try equicar4x4, they may have crew cab roofs, a dealer i used to work for sells take-off roofs to them after we did conversions from crew to single cab.

you can actually make a crewcab roof out of a smooth top hard top and a truckcab. just make sure you get one without alpine windows

Thanks Yella and Clutchdust, would you recommend tigging or is there a seam of rivets to follow.

Another question chaps £ chapasses will a bulkhead survive a hot dip or will it distort?

personally i woud use seam sealer and rivets. as for the bulkhead, are you planning on galvanising one, i have heard of it being done but not sure about distortion, the upper half and the pillars are strong enough, its the footwells and the gearbox cover that might be a problem

Looking at the bulkhead that I am stripping down at the moment it's looks pretty good, and I have considered getting it dipped before I rebuild so that there should be be any problems with the dreaded gout in years to come. If you think the pillars and top would be OK perhaps they will keep the rest in check. It won't be for a few weeks before it goes in, maybe someone on here may have been through it and can point out the pro's cons.
