Ok next question from a very confused new owner.
I need to top up the coolant in my 1997 defender. I have just spent a couple of hours trying to find out which coolant to use. Got some pink stuff from Halfords but on closer inspection it probably is not right, so I haven't added it.
Looking in the expansion tank it looks like the coolant in there already is bright green. Can someone please just tell me get some brand x and it will work.
Probably hoping for a simple answer to a complex question but if you don't ask ....
Thanks in advance for any help

go with green don't mix the 2. They are different types

The green is actually the old style blue glycol type for some reason it goes green havent a clue why, maybe age?
Its cheap and cheerful but needs changing every two years due to the corrosion inhibitors getting weak its still fine as antifreeze.
the red stuff is oats and is good for 5 years
Can be mixed just not a good idea
Motor factors will be cheaper

Think I read that the OAT antifreeze can be bad news with the older engines

Recall threads on peopel using it, and then water pouring out the block?

Did I dream that?
