Hi my buddy's having problems with his 200tdi revs running away.
It revs up and away as soon as he fires up.
We think it is not lube oil as he's disconnected the inlet at manifold entry and disconnected the breather system.
It sounds like something with the fuel injection but I can't think what. I know the internals of the old DPA pumps well but am less familiar with the pump on the 200tdi. I have only been in as far as the boost control on the top. It there anything like a metering valve linkage or governor part that typically fails and causes this problem on these "newer"pumps?
Thankyou.

The latest thought now is perhaps there's a head gasket leak from an oily zone into a cylinder during an induction stroke or leakage of oil past a piston as crankcase pressure quite high.
I also forgot to add that this is following a cambelt failure and bending of pushrods but with everything else deemed to be ok as it ran fine for a while after that repair before this incident occurred. The next step is to remove the head to investigate.
