I am thinking of replacing my ageing v8 that is in my 1976 classic with a 200tdi ,will this mate up to the 4 speed range rover box that is fitted to the classic if so how hard is it as a conversion

I would replace the gearbox at the same time
Fit the whole lot in one go,you might have to cut a different whole for the gear stick.
I fitted a 300 TDI engine and gearbox in my two door and it works a treat.

Spencer is right,best to change the gearbox at the same time.The 200TDI does not work well against the 4spd box.(Zeus engineering used to do a conversion bellhousing) Better to buy a rusty 200/300 Disco and use what you need to make it work - then you will have a really useful tool.

thanks i now need to find a old and rusty and cheap discovery to use as a donor in the South
