OK Ok. have I made a complete c****up? I have put in Heavy Duty king springs and new Dobinsons shocks, giving me an overall two inch lift. I then put new boots AT2s all round. My mechanic took it for a test drive and said it feels cr*p to drive. I intend to fit a patriot roof rack and winch and my Hannibal roof tent to settle it down. Have I made a b*lls up with the suspension?:confused:
 
Have you fitted castor correcting lower arms? If not you have altered the castor / king pin inclination angles, by decreasing the angles you will lose straight line stability / turn in / braking performance / steering wobble / and the self centering effect of the steering.
 
try it offroad, itll be fine.

when you get it back on the black stuff, take all that **** off, and itll be fine.

Next question is. Where do I purchase these lower arms, and what is the going rate to pay for these?

I am sure the off road will be fine, but driving to the desert of Morocco would be very painful in its current form.

I've looked at both the QT arms and offset bushes. I will try the bushes first, and see how things shape up.

I'd have a look at the panard rod too. By lifting the disco and not extending the panard rod you have effectively moved the front axle accross, rendering the front and rear axles out of alignment..
 
theres a fine art to making a dual pupose vehicle. what tends to happen it that you end up with a car that is useless on the road and not extreme enough offroad. just take a look at all the other 4x4s in the world today?

a bog standard landy does a fine balance job twixt the two. when u mess wif em you can/invariably end up wif a dogs dinner.

IMHO.
 
I agree with keeping a vehicle standard when possible, but this vehicle will require more clearance and stronger springs for an African adventure. I do appreciate the feedback.
 
The new offset bushes are ordered along with an adjustable panhard rod. As soon as they are fitted, I will get a wheel alignment and go for a good test drive.

Here is the update. Today I fitted the offset bushes, and the new panhard rod. What a fabulous difference. The car feels well and truly sorted with refined feeling through the steering, nice road manners all round, and good solid cornering. I am just happy to have this sorted now. The loss of skin and bruised thumb have been worth the effort. Thanks to all who helped in the forum.:D
