Hi tomcat59alan
I have the plastic to and housing , no smoke from the engine unless you give it a real hard quick boot then i get a bit of black smoke but it very soon clears
Black smoke is not oil, it's on the injection side. Sounds like they are trying to give you the ally top oil filter. Measure the old one, very messy, just changed mine and thrown the old box away otherwise I could have given you the part number for comparison.![]()
Thanks , no problem I will try my usual shop may get more sense . must have been lucky with the first filter as i got the right one first time dint know there was an ally top as well but i do now
Thanks for your help.
Thanks Wammers. The box say STC2180r so they did send the wrong one or i ordered the wrong one which is more likely
Ordering the wrong parts can make fitting them extraordinarily difficult in my experience. Some seem to manage it though.![]()
Well at least the filter is too big and he could have squashed it in.![]()
Bodgers beware.![]()
It has got a EGR we did remove it to give it a good clean as it was full of black s**t , would that round valve type thing in there be the internal vent valve you speak of . Will try and remove intercooler and flush it out . What about blanking the egr of with a penny will that make any difference or would it be a waste of time
No need to block the EGR, just remove the rubber pipe from the actuator and it will stay shut. Block the rubber pipe with an M5 screw. It has got a EGR we did remove it to give it a good clean as it was full of black s**t , would that round valve type thing in there be the internal vent valve you speak of . It's easier than trying to block it. You will not notice much difference, but it will stop the inlet manifold and engine filling with crap. Many thanks Data, Will give it a go see what happens , probably not a lot but thanks
