My series 3 2.25 petrol is at deaths door again and i've found a replacement from a 2A.The oil filler is different to the current engine and it has a dynamo rather than an alternator.

Q1 are the engine mountings the same ?

Q2 will the alternator bolt on ?

I think ye can get direct replacement altys for engines that had dynamos originally. Think I saw it in a LRO mag once.
 
The engine mounts are the same,use the alternator bracket off the s3 it should fit.
 
yep all done and dusted now thanks to robint and pikey......taking the old 2.25 apart for a full resto now !
 
got the head off the old engine,head gasket all fine with no leaks.......plenty of mayo in the rocker cover....the bottom of the head gasket was very wet......am I looking at a porus block ????
