Hi all

As title on way to Carmarthen for a camping trip and wheel bearing on front is going. I’ve done back ones before and can get a bearing from euro car parts tomorrow. Has anyone done the front before is it as easy as the back. Don’t really wanna spend all day doing it, but needs must. Typically I left my hub nut socket at home.

Jack up
Check go play(may have too much play & tightening up the slack may be easier)
If you have play
Remove drive flange
Flatten lock washer, remove outer nut, remove lock washer tighten inner a bit.

You could use the old method of hammer and chisel to tighten things up.

To change the fronts completely are easy as long as the caliper comes off

Good luck

Depends what year and if it has two nuts or just the one.
Without a socket I would try the bush repair mentioned above if its the two nut system.

Easy enough, always carry the socket and a spare bearing set as they are pretty crap.

Also need a punch to drift tracks in and out, halfords will most likely have the tools, a socket extension will do just fine as a punch

Had a look just now, found the hub socket in under the seat, I was convinced I took it out. Bearing looks really dry and still grumbling after tightening up. I can’t see which bolts unbolt the caliper, I’m worried I’m gonna shear one off if I attempt it. Would you like it carry on grumbling probably gonna do 300 miles till we get back home or attempt to change it and risk shearing a bolt off. Definitely not got a drill or anything to solve that if it happens.

If its as dry as you say you risk friction welding the bearing to the stub. So id get a new one of those as well.

If the calipers not been off in a few years get new bolts and some stripped head removers. Irwin make a great set.
