i would go for a 4.6 every time am currently building one for myself and have just done one for a customer see my web site.
as regardes the ecu are you on hot wire fuel injection? if so no problems if not then factor this into the upgrade the 3.5 flapper is very limited tunning while the 3.9 hotwire system is better ans will adpt to the 4.6 lungs

4.6 slippy liner, cracked porus block engine.No.

yes the 4.6 has slipped liners and cracked porus block but if you have the top hat linners fitted this will cure the problem and if it is fitted to a classic with a open loop emissions set up it will not happen again

Exactly what sean says, usually the great thing about LZ is the goodwill ans satisfaction of memebers just trying to help another landy owner out, unbiased and without prejudice(well apart from td5/tdi wars ) no one needs to have traders harking on and blatantly touting for business!

And as i have already upset some one you will be ignoring anything i say or offer as help i feel best to leave this a no win situation and better to help the man with his problem rather than carry on and leave it up to the mods then

Read the post PROPERLY before you reply; compose your post PROPERLY, use Word and its helpful grammer and spelling checkers, if you need to; THEN read original post AGAIN, before hitting the 'reply' button........

And add, that on THIS forum, people here WILL call a spade a spade and use base anglo-saxon to express themselves, and take the rip at will if you act the tosser.

Which are apparently NOTHING to do with cash strapped Rover pushing the limits of what could reasonably done to an old motor designed to tolerences intended for chaps in flat-caps and hand-lathes rather than lazer guided CNC machining centres, but becouse we, the 'owners' dont know how to look after them properly....... only he does!
DONT anyone get him onto EAS for ****s sake!

Oh, and it has gas conversion. open loop system.
Was toying with the idea of a supercharger though.

:doh: looks like teflon has spat his dummy out again grow up!
the reason myself and teflon do not see eye to eye is that i say what i mean and unfortunatly teflon feels i have personal assulted him!
i have never verbaly or by the power of the internet assulted him or bad mouthed him as a human being! but if as he has given poor and misguiding information then that is what i'am guilty of! by trying to point this out!
and as most of you will be aware teflon does like the sound of his own voice which can be very long winded and somtimes totaly off at a tangent to the actual problem being addressed!
and as the with the last post on the lro forum was locked with him having his last word and as i said i'am only trying to help and if this what i'm guilty of then so be it
