hi

driving along when something went pop whoosh along with lack of power then no power, ah the turbos blown me thinks, stopped at side of the road with what i thought was steam coming from engine and underneath opens bonnet and discovers the pipe that comes of the turbo going to the inter cooler has burst and completely in two separate parts, the steam must have been oil going onto the exhaust and burning off, luckily only 2 miles from home so drove at 20 mph the rest of the way but did notice blue smoke from the exhaust (i am guessing with the hose not being connected there would be a lack of air getting into the cylinders) so running rich on diesel, again as luck would have it i found a old radiator hose that fitted on perfectly, my only concern is did i do the CAT in the exhaust any harm?

Am I right in asuming it's a diesel?? if so, the 'cat' is nothing more than a particle collector, best got rid of, let the engine breath more easily.:D

yes its a diesel, if i remove the 'cat' will that fail the MOT as the emissions must go up

What are you going to do anyway, if it has been damaged it'll fail the next MOT and you can buy a new one then? I wouldn't worry about it otherwise.
