It's not slipping, but i understood it would cure the hard shift from 1st to 2ndBe aware that if the box isn't slipping putting lucas in it might cause hard/harsh shifts..
That oil looks fine too me..

Maybe i should invest in another oil change. Like you said, it looks good, but still darker than new oil.
Maybe that will help the sticky valve? Don't really want to strip the valve block, although something like that I'd farm out as i don't have the time

The best course of action is to remove the solenoids, and clean them out
There is also a metal mesh filter in the solenoid section that houses the main pressure regulator solenoid.
It gets clogged up with clutch material that can also cause harsh 1-2 shifts.
I had to drop the valvebody on mine and clean it out.

Lucas stopped the flaring on 2nd to 3rd shifts on mine due to sticky solenoids, there were some occasional hard shifts for a while.

Yes it can fix flaring, however if it is added to a heathy box as a "just in case" measure, it causes hard shifts..
If there isn't an element of slip in the box.

The only slip in mine I'm pretty sure is due to sticky solenoids, if the clutches were slipping the box would have died ages ago with the towing I do.
I have an HP24 to fit when I can pluck up the courage.

Oil level is checked cold with the engine running after running slowly through all the gear positions.
If you have not done that, the oil may be very low.

I change the g box oil every year,
I added Lucas to mine and get an occasional thunk from 1-2 gears since doing so.
I do around 15.000-20.000mls and a touch of off roading, so it gets a little more than normal use.

How do you actually get the new oil back in? I ended up siphoning in from the top of the engine bay
