I have them at the top, because it's easier, the springs are already retined on the lower spring seat with a plate from the factory and the cones that fit the spring bucket at the top are cheap and readily available

I don’t have cones, I have sliders

I've read it's better to have retained springs, remove the sway bars and no cones.
