Just had a good close up look at a new L405. An all black one with a very dark, near black tint on the rear windows.
Have to say it's not a pug ugly as the L322, the roof line does not seem to slope as much as it appears in photo's, the window line exagerates the slope. However I suspect the height from the boot floor to the roof is a bit restrictive.
Wouldn't want one, the rubber bands passing themselves off as tyres looked stupid IMO. If I had to have a new LR product, I'd prefer the D4 Much more practical.

Oh I'd have a 405 any day.. my second favourite looking RR after the Classic (best not to dwell on the 322) but I can't help wondering what the corrosion will be like..?

Are the body panels not all Aluminium on the L405?
Saw a black model with a brushed aluminium roof that looked pretty smart.
Still think they are starting to look very US influenced though.

Alloy corrodes pretty well, especially if it's in contact with steel on the seams with no electrolytic protection. As long as it doesn't fall apart in the first 3 years, I'm sure LR will not give a tinkers cuss.

I wasnt too keen on the 405 at first but they have grown on me.
Silly money though, the last of the "proper landrover" RR's were the P38's IMO when they had a proper chassis. They did a great job on the L322 looks wise, it more like an original RR, the P38 had very little resemblance to the iconic classic...

I think classic 5 doors are ugly - the proportions are just all wrong - the original three door is a gem.

I liked the L405 - then went off it - then liked it again - it's VERY colour sensitive, some colours look great - others make the car look like a tart's handbag.

P38 = Last of the true Land Rover biased Range Rovers
L322 (2002-2005) = A good looking motorway cruiser
L322 (2006-2009) = A better looking motorway cruiser
L322 (2010 -2012) = A very good engine (4.4 TDV8) in a good looking motorway cruiser
L322 (2013) = The Best Looking Range Rover (in my opinion), although a sorted Classic will still turn many heads.
L405 = Mass produced, ugly, Americanised, over complex, poser Range Rover wannabe....

i went to a LR dealership the other day to pick up some parts and so had a gander around the showroom, still in love with the L405 its not too over the top but not understated, definitely one of my favorite cars

they had a XXV discovery there too :5bdrool5: 66 grand though


although a SECOND HAND L405 outside was 91,000 !!!!!!

L322 (2013) = The Best Looking Range Rover (in my opinion), although a sorted Classic will still turn many heads.

I think the classic is the best looking RR and will turn a darn site more heads than a 2013 322 typically driven in the outside lane of the motorway at 90 by someone who's a tw@t and late for a business meeting...
