Sorry folks, just off to check the tyres and put some fuel in and I cant find my handbook.

What tyre pressure should I have in my Defender tyres to go on a Greenlaning trip tomorrow.

No clever comments please :p:p

Its normal tyre pressures are higher for towing the big trailer. I am assuming I will need to let them down a bit for tomorrow.

It has normal 16" road tyres on it.

Thank you :D :D

Anywhere between 28/ 35 will be safe and shouldn't wear the middles out!! Lower end for off roading and snow!!
Don't forget to check ya spare as well!!

Thanks :D The spare will probably be OK, I dont think I ever put the higher pressure in it :eek:

the best thing you can do with your 200tdi is fit larger tyres and that way you will gear it for better fuel economy..

does it have a 1.444 transfer box in?

:eek::eek::eek:

I understand the larger tyres bit. You lost me after that. What is a 1.4444 transfer box

I can go outside and look, where is it on the Landy

It's a 90 so it probably will have.. 110's have 1.:1.6

it's the gearing ratio on the transferbox.

Thank you, I just googled transfer box, something else I have learned :D

As I am guessing its underneath somewhere I wont be able to check it tonight.

It is likely to be whatever it was supplied with, I think most of it is orginal as it has only done 75,000 miles.

It's the bit underneath, Thats attached to the gearbox, and to which the propshafts bolt..

Thanks :D

My maintenance knowledge is limited to changing the oil and filters, checking the grease in the axles, using the grease gun and tightening the power steering belt. I can change a wheel and check the levels too. Thats about it so far but I am learning all of this slowly :eek:

So back to the orginal question :D

Will 30 be OK for all 4. Does this transfer box have any relevance to tyre pressures :confused:

they look like 7.5/16's

they have to have the size on them it's the law.

but For towing I'd be thinking 35 fronts 40rears. or even 45 rears

Thanks, thats whats in them now. I was just asking how much to let them down to go Greenlaning tomorrow.

The size must be small, I couldn't see it with the torch
