Well, thought it was worth asking - saw that the question had been asked before but that was by someone who hadn't yet exhausted the legit hire options.

Wasn't expected someone's £12k pride a joy but thought maybe there'd be a few traders on here who might have some tatty ones lying round they could use to make a few hundred quid.

And surely it would be a pretty feckin labour intensive way of stealing a Landie (forging documents, creating a profile on here from an ISP, paying for insurance etc) when you could just go out and nick one?!

Anyway, it's obviously a non-starter so I'll drop the idea. Would get one of the cheapest (sub-2k) Defenders you see on eBay but doubt any of them would make it to Scotland and back.

Btw - there is a website where people do hire out their personal cars (google whipcar) but no Defenders on there unfortunately.

Sorry missed that one genuine reply among sea of p*ss taking trolls!

Would be looking to pay up to £400/£450 quid - that any good? You'd need to be in the North West to make it work though - or somewhere on the way to the Highlands.

Hiring one out from a 4x4 rental co is your only option I reckon.

You don't want some tatty old shed that crumbles into oxide the minute you hit a bump and sends your wife crashing through the floor headfirst into a cow dung. It's your honeymoon man!

Equally, stealing one possibly isn't your best option either. Unless you enjoy being chased by coppers, sat on and tazered.

Good luck! Happy days!

Ta fella - I honestly have tried all avenues with normal hire though and the only option is the 12-seater for over £800. Have put some feelers out among the local farming community via a wheeler dealer farmer I know though (would have hired me his but there's a 200 Tdi-shaped hole in the engine bay at the mo) so maybe that'll work out.

For the amount of hirin one you may as well buy your own... if you both like em that much :D

There'll be a few places round there who might buy in ex MOD stock I'd think

If not one in Carnforth, theres Whitlams too and that link red posted earlier which would be perfect

Would really want something already on the road but that is tempting. The LWB would be perfect for transporting my bike too (doubt it'd fit in a SWB). Ta for that.
