Don't presume the new battery is any good, I had a Bosch one which failed within a week. If you have a flat battery, jump it and leave it running with the charge light on it will still be flat, well flatter, than when you started it.

Swap head light bulbs. It could be that high beam has blown on your current nearside? Also check fuses, I seem to remember each headlight is fused separately.

Measure from fixed point on axle to the same on the chassis, compare readings for an idea where to start.
