YRM metal solution bulkhead parts

Hi all

Had a look on google yesterday and found very expensive brand new bulkheads, a little more looking and I found a company called YRM metal solutions.
The website seemed very genuine. Very reasonably priced repair bulkhead parts. Has anybody used them? Any quick reviews from anybody?

Think this winters project is the 1966 2a's bulkhead

Not myself. But I know several people that have bought their stuff, and they thought it was good.

Yes I've had some bits off them. No problems.

Yes bought footwells and mudshields from them. Very good quality. They sell fixing packs which others do not. They are reputable and can be seen at landy shows.

I think it depends what you are trying to achieve. The door pillars I bought from YRM won't fit my bulkhead =>

I am trying to make my bulkhead look original. I'm sure there are lots of people who wouldn't be all that bothered by the faults I've found with those new pieces

The two most irritating problems with these A posts are 1) holes for wing don't line up - would have to hack to make it all fit, 2) No gutter / lip for the door seal

Note also that I think the posts I bought from YRM probably weren't made by them. I ordered several other parts at the same time from YRM and these were the only bits that turned up in black primer. The rest of the order was more obviously "made by them" - galvanised bits with evidence of MIG welding...

Ive bought various items of them, good quality parts and good service.

As for footwells - I bought Les Cromie (spelling?) ones they look really good so far but they're still not fitted...

That is pretty normal with sheet metal bits. And could be as much to do with your bulkhead being out of shape after years of corrosion and distortion as the the parts.

Just grind, clamp, and weld until it all comes together.

i've bought door bottom repair sections, rear tub cross members (galvanised type) rear tub replacement floor panel (4mm) the top hat sections that go under the rear floor plate, galvanised front wheel arch mud shields plus A2 stainless bolt kit, centre seat box tool tray, centre seat box lid,

all have been great quality.

i agree with @Stretch that bulkhead pillar is terrible, my spider senses are tingling there. the construction quality and finish and pricepoint looks particularly "britpart" to me, i wonder if they are just retailing those.

I don't think it will be so bad when the old one is removed. The inside contour of a replacement panel isn't the same as the outside contour of an old one, if you see what I mean.

agree, but i think i remember in his thread he had to cut out the wing mount holes and move them

Fitted a few of those on Nineties. There was always a little bit of paring and grinding during the job, but the result was always structurally and cosmetically fine at the end!

There is quite a bit of adjustment on both bulkhead and wings, getting them to line up takes practice.

I've bought smaller bits from them, SS fitting kits etc, all have been delivered no fuss, no problem.

I also got Les Cr*** footwells from ebay, the guy who welded them in for me said they were as good as he had seen, and I suspect he had seen a few. Linky to my rebuild here... https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/swb-re-chassis.227238/page-3

Think I will be making a few purchases soon , just need to find a really decent welder locally, I want it done properly and done properly once.

have you contacted them and shown them the pics? I have always found them very helpful... even stating they would make new panels not on their list, if i supplied a master (old panel) providing they thought there was sufficient interest.

If not, I suggest you do so, to let them answer.

I've mentioned this on Stretch's thread, but I bought a set of axle brackets from them, some of which weren't a good fit. I sent pictures and measurements for correction but they didn't reply. May have been an off day, but I was disappointed.

I don't think they made the product. I think they just sold it on.

I bought the parts a year ago - I've only just gotten round to finding out how they will or will not fit. They are under no obligation to replace or fix anything for me - that's why I'm doing it myself.

I've started a thread on the series 2 club forum about alternative manufacturers of these A posts and so far nobody has come up trumps. I think it is quite likely that who ever makes the Britpart ones does so for everyone else. For the A posts it seems as though it is best to try and pay as little as possible as they are probably all going to be of a similar quality. Whilst I don't consider them to be nice enough (in their delivered state) to fit to my vehicle I'm sure there are others who wouldn't be so picky and will be happy to bump and grind (!)

(I have sent out a feeler (not a pervy one!) to someone else to see if they can help - if this comes off then I'll pass on the information)

Well yeah it can - effort - for something that I know isn't going to get fixed.

This is just common for standard pattern parts - the same for virtually every vehicle.


Please note:- I'm not bad mouthing YRM - I've stated that I'm being picky. I'm quite sure lots of people aren't worried about things like this as much I am. I'm just showing what I'm doing to turn the product into a something that I hope I will find acceptable.

Sorry, but its one thing that winds me up - negative posts without an opportunity to rectify is the bane of any business! ask @Nodge! give them a call - you never can tell. they may surprise you/ be glad of the feedback. if they tell you to whistle, then you can, justifiably say that it isnt good.
