Well, had my trusty old, W reg Freelander XDI doozle for a few years now.

I Would love to get a newer freebie, and iv set my eyes on the 2004/5 TD4 sports.

I love the look of them and i like the idea of the faster engine, for those in the know, the XDi is a bit of a tractor.

So can anyone tell me if this sounds like a good idea, swapping my old freebie for a newer td4,

are the new ones alot better, ie faster etc...

Although my old one is just perfect, i would like to change it for a newer model.

can anyone recommend the td4 ?

The XDI is a great bullet proof engine, im just worried the Td4 is not so reliable ?

    THANKS ! :)

yeh go for it,td4 great engine i put egr by pass kit on mine and a tduk chip and goes like a rocket now,and fuel consumption up slightly if driven normally !!!! bit more complicated than an l series but if looked after can go on for miles as the commercial version i have has done 160k miles , alough its retired now as the seals went on the turbo

Wherever Im damn well told to be!
Your L series has only got 79k on it!!!!!, its just run in!
New TD4 sport sounds nice, but your XDI will run forever!

    Better still Keep both!

Why not get a roverron synergy vp for it. Apparently it helps transform the old L-series.
Standard Td4 is a little faster but not that great either performance wise which is why many of us buy a synergy module for it.
Td4 is a good reliable engine but some of its ancillaries aren't which is why so many people report problems.

I allready have a VP module from rover ron fitted, it makes a hell load of difference, its nice and speedy now.

no problems with the speed now, just the cars starting to have little annoying habbits.

Like, today, steaming up all the time (common fault with my model), frosts up really bad, crap heater etc..

otherwise i still love it, i just wanted something a little newer with hopefully less little problems like my one. I think LR sorted alot of these out ?

and mine only has done 79000 miles and shes 10 years old !!! loads of life left in her yet lol !

any other problems with these td4 sports i need to be aware of ?

    Thanks guys :D

We have a 04 TD4 Sport in Maya Gold. Some reviews say the suspension is hard but we cant tell. We really like it, you dont see many in Gold! You appear to want something a bit quicker, you are aware the Sport has the same BHP as all the other TD4's? The harder, lower suspension and bigger tyres give it its Sporting edge!

im not after massive speed. im not expecting it, maybe just a bit quicker than my chugger XDI lol

im not getting the sport for a speed thing, beacuse i like the extra features you get, im trying to get the premium model.

its hard finding the right one. there dont seem to be alot of sports about ?
    :D
