Sorry for bieng a noob but should you engage diff lock when driving in snow? And if so should only be doing that in lying snow and taking it off again on slush/ gritted roads?

I wouldn't worry about diff untill you can't move, diff doesn't help unless you only want to go in a straight line (as per tractor experience) can't say I've had to use diff even in a muddy field with a tri axle full of cattle

Oh boy, you are really so wrong in what you think diff lock does on a land rover:rolleyes:

a freelander is not inferior on snowy roads, you'd be surprised

How right are you........they are great on snowy roads, I had one for four years and every time there was snow I got about with no problem. they skim about with ease,.

Dare I carry on saying this about a Suberu Justy (the 4WD sort of mini metro), My Farther had one many years ago, about twenty something years ago when I had my frist S3, snow came for a week or so, and would you know it my 6Cyl had decided to need a engine rebuild, so I borrowed Dads little thing to get to work , WOW I was suppriesed, it was so light it just skimed like a stone over the drifts.....:D:D:D

He could not belive I got so far, so I took him out in it, you can guess the look on his face -:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:.

Moral of this is DONT judge any 4WD, they all have a place....where ever you may think it may be.:rolleyes:
