Hi,
My wiper on a 51 reg TD4 won’t self park on any mode. They stop in random places. This is an MOT failure. Is the self park switch on the motor or is there some sort of relay?

Thanks

There's a parking contact on the motor drum, which is supposed to connect with a fixed contact on the motor body. This fixed contact burns out over time, causing this issue. It's actually quite easy to fix, once the wiper motor has been stripped down to gain access to the contacts.

I'd probably change the motor and then repair the old one at my leisure !
Not a difficult job, motor is under the plastic scuttle beneath the windscreen. Plug coupler and a few bolts and the whole mechanism lifts out. Check the plastic 'ball joints' for wear while it is out as these can let go of the wiper arm actuators and leave you with a floppy wiper on one side or the other ! No one wants that!!

Thanks all. All Sorted, motor replaced. I broke a couple of the plastic pin things than keep the black scuttle panel / cover in place. Can you still buy these new?
