hello has some of you know my newly perchased 2.5 dse has a cracked windscreen, insurance is,nt an option coz i,ve got a claim against me pending:(has anyone got experience of removing one from a breaker?ive found one local but he said i have to remove it myself:eek:then remove the broken one and refit.is this possible for your average home mechanic or a job fro the pros

I have just had one done on my insurance, I would stongly recommend against doing it yourself bud. This guy knew what he was doing, had all the correct tools and it still took him over 2 hours.

There are differant ways of doing it in differant weather conditions, and it looked like the screen was structural. The last thing you want to happen is the screen give way at the wrong time because it wasnt fitted properly.

If you have fully comp, even if you have an outstanding claim still get them to do it, windscreen's dont have an impact on insurance premium renewals.

The guy said that if I had to pay for it, it would have cost over £600 .
