me warn xd9000 winch has developed a problem,,it will real out fine with the remote but wont recoil in with the remote.you can hear the solenoid clicking in housing when u press the remote but it wont go in..any ideas as to why?

no and no...it did reel in once but when you stop and reel in again nothing it just clicks in the tower.reels out fine.tried another remote and that did the same

Hmmm...so if you reel in a little, then stop, then start again...it doesn't reel in the 2nd time? If you reel out a little then try reeling in again it works?

Just trying to work out what's going on. Also can you put it under load and try it?

Found the following on't web:
Warn Motor Testing Procedure
If you find yourself in a situation where your winch is clicking but it is not working, you may have a motor problem....or you may have a solenoid problem. The following procedure, from Warn, will help you determine the status of your winch motor.
1. Put the winch in freespool.

2. Disconnect the positive lead from the battery (leave the ground lead attached).

3. Label and disconnect the three cables that run from the control pack to the three posts on the motor.

4. Stamped next to the three posts on the motor will be "A", "F1" and "F2". Run a small jumper wire (5"-6" dead lead, 8 ga. will work just fine) from "A" to "F1" and put power from the battery (jumper cables work good) to "F2". The winch motor should run in one direction at this time.

5. Next, place the jumper wire from "A" to "F2" and put power from the battery to "F1". The winch motor should run in the opposite direction at this time.

[/FONT]If these steps are followed correctly and the motor runs in both directions, the motor is good.

i take it all the connections are original and you have not used an albright pack? you need to get into the solonoid and check the main wires. As ratty says, its probably corroded somewhere. if its clicking, there is deff a signal from remote to solonoid pack and the solonoid pack is registering that something should be happening... but it aint.

I dont know, i have never done it. I fitted an albright under the bonnet back by the brake master cylinder. stays out of water 95% of the time and its sealed so i will never get any problems.

It should be fairly straight forward. you will have the solonoid terminals (3 or 4) which will be connected to 3 small wires which will come from the socket for your wonder lead. that should be all there is in that bridge. maybe someone else who has that warn model can help identify whats under there. I have an older M8000 sorry.
