There is little market for the old Defender Farm vehicle now, as its all foreign stuff which is cheaper, more comfortable and sits at 90 on a motorway. For the smaller stuff Polaris/Mule/Honda have it sewn up.
Spot on in my view. JLR has turned it's back on that kinda heritage. Look at current models. It'll be more than a nod to a larger truck but gaylander disco styling that goes fast. They're not interested in the practical end of the market other than using it for marketing purposes. I detest the way in which they have repositioned the brand as a poncy upmarket manufacturer.

BUT if they hadn't the chances are that Landrover as a company just wouldnt exist now ......systemic neglect and lack of investment whilst fiddling as Rome burns and folks moaning about the loss of the defender on facebook whilst not actually buying the product meant there was little chance of survival until TATA started ACTUALLY investing in the company .

It'll probably be based on the god awful discovery sport. Besides all Land Rover sell name are the exact same car with slightly different styling and badges. As a result it will cost a bomb to buy and be used to take the kids to school.
I still think Land Rover should list all the things needed from a series 1 Land Rover and what roles it had to fulfill then using modern design and with more refinement create something that would resemble a defender.
Jeep kept the basic look of there vehicle, minis sort of look like minis, the Range Rover has little hints of the original. The biggest reason people would steer clear of the defender was reliability and refinement, so those need addressing and I've been in several of the popular Japanese equivalents and they aren't anything special. How hard can it be really?

HMmm, well I don't know many people who sit at 90 mph on the motorway, I value my license too much for that. The INEOS 4x4 will be a great replacement.
